Hotel Christiania was built in 1962 as the 15th hotel of Saas-Fee (today there are more than 50 hotels) from Family Karl and Emma Burgener-Bumann.

1975 the public restaurant "Chämi Stuba" was added and 1986 "Nesti's Après-Ski Bar" was built.

Since the middle of the 80's the whole complex is administrated in 2nd generation by the three brothers Pirmin, Nestor and Sigi.

The name "Christiania" is known from the formal ski swing "Stemm Kristiania" which was taught in swiss skischools in the 60's and 70's. This ski swing was taken over from Norway as Norway's capital Oslo was once called Christiania (this is no joke!).
